Yes, this book has more than met my expectations. I am a woman just entering my middle years, and I am facing new problems such as high cholesterol and borderline hypertension. This book has given me ways to bring my high numbers down naturally, without the use of prescription medications. Because as most people know, many prescription drugs can cause unwanted side effects.
This book gives easy to follow breakdowns of everyday food items, targeting various medical conditions. It is simple, clear, and to the point. I am very pleased with my purchase.

This book is exactly what I was looking for!
I have been researching and learning about healthy eating and proper preparation of foods and grains for maximum nutritional absorption for about the last 4 years. I recently bought the NutriBullet to make healthy drinks, but didn't really know the benefits of ingredients that I added to the drinks. Although I don't have any specific health problems, my husband has had persistent outbreaks of skin cancer, and my 92 year old mother, now living with us, has dementia. This book lists each food alphabetically so they are easy to find, and lists all of the benefits of each food. This makes it so much easier for me to find foods for the NutriBullet Blast drinks that will target the health problems we want to overcome. It is also helpful in meal planning for a healthier diet. I won't know if this new regime is helping my husband's skin cancer until his next exam, but it definitely seems to be having a positive effect on my mother. After less than a week of the drinks including foods for Alzheimer's, we are seeing times that she seems more "with it", and her speech abilities seem to be improving.
I am a firm believer that the foods we eat and the methods that we prepare them can be the cause or cure for diseases, mental stability, aging, and a multitude of other physical and psychological problems. Just seeing the changes in my mother has been inspirational. We moved her here from a nursing home 4 months ago. In that time, we have eliminate 2 high blood pressure meds of 3, cholesterol meds, potassium supplements, meds for water retention, and a couple of others that I can't recall right now. She had a full blood panel last week, and the doctor said she had the results of a 20 year old. Everything was perfect!! All of this has been done with changes to her diet and vitamin supplements from Xtendlife.com. If diet can do so much for a 92 year old person, imagine the benefits for someone younger that doesn't have to overcome so many years of past damage from a poor diet.

“Natural Healing Foods” is an excellent resource if you are looking for natural ways to alleviate symptoms associated with many health care related issues. Broken up into three parts: Healing Foods, Healing Herbs and Spices, and Health Problems, the overall layout is simple and easy to use.
In parts I and II, each food or natural additive is introduced with a quote or perhaps a bit of information on that particular item followed by a list of health related issues that might benefit from it. The Health Problems section is broken out by related health issue and then followed by a list of food, herbs and supplements that may help alleviate symptoms.
So, whether you wish to cross-reference or simply pick and choose, this Kindle version is very easy to use and understand. Okay, so I’ve said that once already, but if you’ve spent any time researching natural options for your health, you’ll find that many books can be difficult to use.
Now, if you’re like me and you have multiple health issues, it can be difficult trying to figure out which to use and which to avoid if they are contra-indicated, so like everything, do your research first and then perhaps pick and choose.
This quick reference is ideal for a novice or a pro when it comes to choosing natural healing options because of its ease of use and well worth the price.

Pamela Young, after working many years in the design field, and now she turns to the design of Nature with her many successful books - her novels BE STILL and THE HEALING and her books representing her avid commitment to health research - HOW TO PROPERLY STORE ORGANIC FRUITS & VEGETABLES, DANGEROUS FOOD ADDITIVES, BOOST METABOLISM WITH SUPERFOODS, YOUR COLOR PERSONALITY and now NATURAL HEALING FOODS - A USER FRIENDLY REFERENCE TO NATURE'S PHARMACY. She lives in Arizona but her writing and influences suggest she spends time in the Pacific Northwest, too.
Pamela's approach to healthy living and eating is unique in that she references Nature in a most refreshing manner. One the bright color page of her book she states `Foods, Vitamins and Herbs that help treat and prevent over 80 health problems including Alzheimer's, diabetes heart disease and cancer.' Right there she has our attention - no supplements or medications or treatments are suggested, simply Nature.
Acknowledging the good intentions of medical advice and coaching from fitness and diet experts, Pamela asks us to face the fact that sticking with `external' means eventually fails - or ends up with a long expensive tie to pharmaceutical companies. Then comes some enlightening history: `Before physicians, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies there were "healers." These were people-- mostly women, since they were the gatherers and nurturers--who lived close to the land and discovered natural cures for illness. Their wisdom was passed down through the ages from one generation to the next. Their "cures" utilized natural foods such as vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, grains and herbs......Hippocrates felt that when your body is out of balance, whether physically or emotionally, then the body becomes more susceptible to illness and disease. He also felt that the human body was remarkable in its self-healing, writing that, "If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health." ...to Thomas Edison "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and the cause and prevention of disease." She goes on to list the adverse effects of medications and additives that can be harmful and states `The key to health is not only adding nutritious foods into your body, but eliminating the toxins. The best way to eliminate those toxins is to add fiber to your diet.'
From this point Pamela takes us through Organic and Non-Organic foods and separates her book into Parts. Part I- The Healing Foods: Almonds, Apple Cider Vinegar, Apples, Apricots, Artichokes, Asparagus, Avocados, Bananas, Beans, Beets, Blackberries, Blackcurrants, Blueberries, Brazil Nuts, Broccoli, and on through a thorough list through the alphabet all the way to Yogurt. Part II Healing Herbs & Spices - Alfalfa, Aloe Vera, Basil, Cardamom, Cayenne Pepper, Chamomile, Chili Pepper, Cinnamon Cloves, Dandelion, Echinacea, etc up to Yucca. Part III Health Problems form Can and Aging through cancer, fibromyalgia, menopause, to varicose veins and for each of the many diseases she surveys she offers the healing foods specific for that disease and the foods to avoid for each disease as well as the herbs and spices and the vitamins and minerals applicable to each disease she lists.
This is a hefty book, very well written and one that belongs on the shelf of every person's library. Pamela takes s back to nature in a most exemplary book. Grady Harp, January 15
